How an order works, start to finish

An EZHomesteading order is a conversation with a real person who is going to hand you food, so it does not finish the moment you check out. Checkout puts a hold on your card and opens that conversation; the two of you agree on a time, the seller gets your order together, and you are charged when they mark it ready or drop it off, or when you confirm pickup or delivery, whichever comes first.

Checking out authorizes your card

At checkout your card is authorized, not charged. That authorization is a hold for the order total. You are charged when the seller marks your order ready for pickup or drops off a delivery, or when you confirm pickup or delivery yourself, whichever comes first. If something still needs weighing, the charge waits until pickup.

An order for a date far ahead works differently. A deposit is charged right away, and the rest goes on hold on your card closer to the date.

If a seller never confirms, the hold is released and you are not charged. A deposit is refunded in full.

Every seller in your basket is a separate order

Your basket can hold goods from several stands at once, and each stand becomes its own order with its own time and its own pickup or delivery. You check out once; you may end up with three conversations.

Each order tracks its own status, so one seller confirming quickly does not depend on another.

Agreeing on a time

Pickup and delivery times are agreed in the order's chat rather than picked unilaterally at checkout.

Either side can propose a time, and the order moves forward once the other side accepts it. A seller's available times come from the schedule they keep for their store, so what you can propose is already limited to when they are actually able to hand goods over.

Pickup or delivery is set by the seller

A stand is set up either for pickup, where you drive to them, or for delivery, where they bring the order to you. It is a property of the store, not a choice you make at checkout, so you know which one applies before you add anything to your basket.

The statuses you will see

• Awaiting payment — checkout is still going through.
• Awaiting seller — the seller has not responded yet.
• Awaiting buyer — the seller has proposed something and it is your turn.
• Scheduled — you both agreed on a time.
• Ready for pickup — the seller has your order together.
• Complete — the handoff happened.
• Cancelled or Refunded — the order ended without a handoff.

If something goes wrong

If what you receive is not what was listed, you can open a dispute from the order. That is the reason listings are held to their photos and descriptions: the listing is the thing you agreed to buy, and it is the record a dispute is judged against.
