Food safety

What this covers
Where the platform's responsibility ends and a seller's begins, for the safety of what's actually sold and handed off.
EZHomesteading is a marketplace, not a food business
EZHomesteading connects buyers and sellers and handles scheduling and payment. It doesn't grow, raise, make, inspect, store, or transport anything sold through it. A seller is solely responsible for the safety and quality of their own goods — how they're produced, handled, stored, and labeled, and for complying with whatever food-safety laws apply to what they sell where they sell it.
What the platform does do
Two things narrow the risk without the platform taking on food-safety responsibility itself:
- Prohibited items bans categories with a real, hard-to-mitigate safety risk — like home-canned low-acid goods — outright.
- Listing accuracy requires that a listing's photos and practice claims (how something was grown, raised, or made) be true, and disputes are judged against the listing as published.
Neither of these is a food-safety inspection. They reduce the chance a buyer is misled about what they're getting, which is different from certifying that it's safe.
If something seems unsafe
Report the listing or open a dispute — see Dispute and refund policy. For anything that seems like a genuine health risk, contact your local health department in addition to reporting it here.
Changes to this policy
