Creating a listing from a photo

Creating a listing starts with a photo. You hold the thing up, take the picture, and the rest of the form arrives mostly filled in — you are correcting suggestions rather than typing from a blank screen.

Prerequisites

You need a store, because a listing has to live somewhere. If you do not have one yet, set that up first; the flow will send you there.

1. 1Tap the + to start a new listing.
2. 2Take a photo of the actual item, held up so it fills the frame. This photo becomes the cover image buyers see on the market.
3. 3Check the details on Does This Look Right? Tap anything to change it. If nothing on the screen fits what you are selling, choose None of these fit and name it yourself.
4. 4On Price It, pick how you sell it — by count or by weight — and set the price per that unit.
5. 5Answer the practice questions if you get them. They vary by what you are selling, and not sure is always an acceptable answer.
6. 6Review the preview on Ready to Publish and publish.

What to expect

The photo does real work: it is what a buyer decides from, and it is the record a dispute is judged against. A picture of ripe produce and a handoff of spoiled produce is a dispute the buyer wins.

You can add more photos than the cover. The first one is what appears on the market and on your store page.

If the photo step cannot place what you are selling, that is not a failure — name it on the fallback screen and carry on. Genuinely new kinds of goods get reviewed and added.
