Buying by weight or by count

Every listing is sold one of two ways — by weight or by count — and it is set by the seller, not something you choose.

It's a property of the listing

A listing sells by weight only when the seller batch-tracks it and its unit is a weight unit (like lb, kg, or oz). Everything else — bunches, dozens, jars, cartons, and every other count-style unit — sells by count. You can tell which one a listing uses by the unit shown on its price.

What a step does

For a count listing, each step on the quantity control adds or removes one whole unit — one bunch, one dozen, and so on. For a weight listing, each step moves by half a unit (half a pound, for example), since a precise weight is rarely a whole number.

The minimum is stated in the listing's own unit

A listing's minimum order is always in the unit it sells by. A 2 lb minimum on a weight listing means your first add is 2 lb, not 2 of something else; a 3-bunch minimum on a count listing means 3 bunches.
