Terms of Service

1. About EZHomesteading
EZHomesteading is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting small-scale growers and makers to local buyers. We are not a seller or shipper — transactions occur between users.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your area). By using our service, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. User Accounts
You're responsible for your account security. Don't share your credentials. Keep your info accurate and up to date.
4. SMS Messaging Terms
EZHomesteading operates an account verification messaging program. If you choose to sign in with your phone number, you consent to receive a one-time verification code by SMS at that number. This is the only text message we send — the program carries no marketing or promotional messages.
You receive one message per sign-in request, so message frequency varies with how often you sign in. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out at any time, or reply HELP for help. You can also email support@ezhomesteading.com for assistance.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Phone sign-in is optional: you can sign in with email or Google instead, and opting out of SMS does not affect your ability to use EZHomesteading.
5. Listings & Transactions
Sellers are responsible for item accuracy and legal compliance. Buyers must review listings carefully before purchasing. EZHomesteading does not guarantee item quality or delivery.
6. Payments & Saved Cards
Payments are processed through Stripe. Your card number, expiry and security code go straight to Stripe and are stored by Stripe — they never reach our servers. What we hold is Stripe’s identifier for a saved card, never the card itself. Sellers pay a 10% commission on the item subtotal of each order, inclusive of card processing — there is no separate processing charge. Buyers pay no platform fee today. If an order is refunded, the commission is returned with it: in full for a full refund, proportionally for a partial refund.
a. We save the card you pay with
When you check out, on the web or in the app, we save that card to your account so your next order does not need it typed in again. We tell you at checkout when this happens. Saving is not something you switch off at the card field — the control comes after: every saved card is listed under Account → Payment, and removing one there stops it being used again.
b. When we charge a saved card without you there
A payment here begins as an authorization — a hold your bank places on the card — and becomes a charge when the seller hands the goods over. Two situations place a hold on a saved card while you are not in front of it, and no others. EZHomesteading has no subscriptions, no memberships and no recurring billing of any kind, and we never charge a saved card for anything but an order you placed yourself. • A basket spanning more than one seller. It becomes one payment per seller. You confirm the first; the rest go to the same card seconds later, inside the same checkout, without asking again. That happens once, while you are placing the order, and never afterwards. • An order handed off more than 7 days out. It is paid in two parts: a deposit — 20% of the estimated total — when you place it, and the rest later. We authorize the rest on the same card up to 6 days before the handoff date you agreed with the seller, the exact lead depending on your card network, and it settles when you collect. That is one further hold per order, on a date you already know when you order, and we message you in the order when it lands.
c. How the amount is decided
Every amount is the order in front of you. We do not pick a figure afterwards. On a multi-seller basket, each seller’s payment is that seller’s own total as shown at checkout. On a two-part order, the later hold is the balance that checkout showed you when you placed it. Goods sold by weight are authorized with 20% headroom over the estimate, because a weighed item settles at whatever the scale says. The headroom is the reason a hold can read higher than the total you were quoted, and it is never money you have paid: we capture what the order actually settles at and never more than the hold, your bank releases the remainder, and goods that weigh under the estimate cost you less.
d. Stopping a future charge
Remove the card under Account → Payment and it will not be charged again. One exception: while a placed order still has a balance to settle on that card, we refuse the removal and name the order holding it — removing it there would turn an order a seller has already grown or made the goods for into a payment failure nobody sees coming. Remove the card once that order is complete, or cancel the order. Cancelling an order before handoff releases whatever is held on your card. You are not charged for an order that does not happen, and refunds after handoff follow section 7. If a scheduled authorization is declined — usually an expired card or one your bank reissued — we do not retry quietly and indefinitely. We tell you, the order waits, and we try once a day until you update the card or the order is cancelled.
e. Your agreement to this
Placing an order is your agreement to the holds and charges described in this section, and we record against each order that this was disclosed to you before you paid. To charge a saved card in any situation other than the two in (b), we would ask you first.
7. Refund Protections
Buyers may request a refund if: • The item never arrives • The item is significantly not as described • The seller violates platform rules Sellers have the right to dispute claims. Refunds are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Abuse of the refund process (e.g. false claims) may result in account suspension.
8. Content & Uploads
You own what you upload, but give us a license to display it on the platform. Don’t post anything illegal, harmful, or misleading. We use Supabase to manage image uploads.
9. Prohibited Activities
No spamming, fraud, harassment, fee avoidance, or bot scraping. Don’t mess with the service or other users.
10. Termination
We can suspend or delete accounts for violating our Terms or harming the platform. You may close your account at any time by contacting support. However, sellers with active outstanding orders cannot delete their account until all transactions are resolved.
11. Disclaimers
The platform is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee listings, uptime, or user conduct.
12. Limitation of Liability
We're not liable for lost profits, disputes between users, or damage from use of the platform. Local laws may vary.
13. Arbitration & Small Claims Abuse
You agree to resolve any disputes through binding arbitration, not court (except for small claims). Users who file repeated or abusive small claims may be required to arbitrate future claims instead. We reserve the right to recover legal fees in the case of frivolous or bad-faith lawsuits.
14. Changes to These Terms
Terms may be updated. We’ll notify you if we make major changes. Using the app after updates means you accept the new terms.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America. All disputes will be resolved under those laws unless otherwise stated.
